Frequently Asked Questions
-
How can I update my tool listing?
To update your tool listing please send an email to Ollie (she/they). Please do not submit another response on the survey.
-
Why are schools listed on the map?
The Book Arts Tool Map’s top priority will always be connecting artists to the tools they need outside of institutional and paywalled settings. Despite this, book arts educational programs can act as information and resource hubs, sharing online directories and public programming such as lectures or gallery shows.
For the same reason book arts/ print organizations are listed as they often have a lower financial barrier to entry along with offering public programming.

How are icons Chosen for map points?
To represent individuals on the map the “tool” or “paper tool” icon is chosen based on the majority of their offerings. Regardless of the icon, all tools are accurately listed and filterable.
The “school” icon is used for institutions with a degree program, and “organization” is used for book art/ print centers that may offer classes but without a degree component. The “organization” icon can also be used for clubs or professional organizations with a physical address.
